Cute Professor Showing Supply and Demand Curves for Economics Students

Phd Economics

To work in the field of economics, most people will need to get their Phd. Most people will then work as professors in the field. Job competition is especially keen. The best candidates will have strong statistical backgrounds, capitalistic backgrounds, and computer science backgrounds.

I have heard Phd students saying they would drop out, in a second, if they could find a job making 30k per year. When the competition is keen, don't be cocky and think it doesn't apply to you.

You must have an internship while in the masters and phd programs. Work experience often means a lot more than even a degree. If you can get published in prestigious journals before you graduate it will also help you a lot.

People that ignore work experience, publishing in the right journals, and going to mediocre universities will mostly be disappointed when they graduate.
