Agricultural Economics

Agricultural economics is the science of studying farming from a scientific prospective. For example, what size of farm is ideal. Did you know that farms that are too large have a hard time being profitable and farms that are too small have the same problem? Knowing how to manage a farm for profitability is the main aim of agricultural economics.

For agricultural economics, you won't go to universities like Harvard or Yale. Each state has a land grant university. That means that the university was put there by the state to serve the people – not private interests. These land grant universities were the universities that focused on agricultural education. For a major on agricultural education, it would be a good idea to find the land grant university of where you want to be involved with farming and study there.
